‘Top universities have warned the federal government the coronavirus travel ban would cost the economy more than $1 billion, and put at risk 7500 jobs, for each 10 per cent decline in Chinese students. The figures are contained in economic modelling commissioned by the Group of Eight and presented to Treasury officials this week as the sector and the government try to get a handle on the economic impact of the coronavirus.’
