‘Economic growth in the June quarter could end up being negative, according to some economists, following much poorer than expected official business inventory figures on Wednesday. However, stronger than expected profits, up 4.5 per cent, based on higher commodity prices and better wage and salary payments, up 4.7 per cent in nominal terms in the year to June, will help lift national income growth figures.’
