‘New vehicle sales declined for the 16th straight month in July but the boss of the organisation that oversees 1500 car dealers said a tempering of the slowdown was emerging. The national figures from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries showed a 2.8 per cent drop in July compared with the same month a year ago. James Voortman, chief executive of the Australian Automotive Dealer Association, said Western Australia and Tasmania had both returned to growth in July as their local economies gained more momentum, but conditions were still difficult.’
