‘Interest rates drove the Australian sharemarket to a fresh record high on Tuesday, completing an 11-and-a-half year journey, but it will take improved corporate earnings to sustain prices at these levels. A 19.3 point, or 0.3 per cent, advance in the S&P/ASX 200 Index enabled the market to finally surpass its November 1, 2007 high of 6828.7 for a new record close of 6845.1.’
