‘Local mining stocks have soared as the world’s largest alumina refinery shut down its production indefinitely, after running at a reduced capacity for the past seven months. Norsk Hydro announced on Wednesday it would fully curtail operations at its Alunorte refinery in Brazil, sidelining 5 per cent of global supply of alumina. ‘
