2 Oct 2018 (AFR) – Tasmanian power prices plunge as hydro storages overflow

‘Tasmanian energy users enjoyed a return to pre-energy crisis electricity prices of under $45 a megawatt hour in the September quarter as the island state generated 100 per cent of its needs for the year to date from renewable energy.’ <snipped…>

‘Most of Hydro Tasmania’s dams are within a metre or two of full, with several spilling over. Allan Jones, spot market and operations manager, said a productive September followed a record-breaking August with above-average rainfall, and the state exported energy to the mainland in both August and September.’
