‘Australia’s captains of industry are right to be worried about the impact of higher energy prices on household budgets, but they only need to look at their profit statements to understand why consumer confidence is lagging so far behind business confidence. As The Australian Financial Review‘s quarterly survey of economists shows, business profits are booming while wage growth has stalled. The big question is, which way will things go in 2018?’
