‘Shares ended Friday’s session in the red, turning lower in the afternoon after the government lost its one seat majority as investors fretted about the potential impact of rising political uncertainty on the sharemarket. Investors had been on track to enjoy another week of gains, with appetite for Macquarie Bank boosting the index in the early part of the day. However, the bourse turned lower after the High Court’s announcement that it had disqualified five of the so-called citizenship seven for being dual citizens and a wave of political uncertainty swept through the market, with selling across all sectors.’
