9 Aug 2017 (AFR) – Bankers to feel a chill as China extends capital crackdown – Capital flight may hit Australian asset prices

‘Australian bankers will have mixed feelings about the latest signs that some big, high-flying Chinese corporates could soon be seeking to offload some of their Australian assets. Their first, almost knee-jerk response, will be to try and muscle into some of these deals, which means they’ll be frantically calling up Chinese corporates to offer their assistance. But, they’ll also have a sinking feeling as they realise that one of their most lucrative businesses – helping Chinese companies acquire local assets – is feeling a decided chill.’
