6 May 2017 (AFR) – Sell in May: ASX miners and banks lead the way – Market hits reverse, no sign of 6000

ASX: Weekly market round up‘A hefty slide in commodity prices as well as an abrupt end to the banking rally dashed hopes the benchmark index might scale the elusive 6000-point mark anytime soon.

‘After a promising start to the week, which saw the S&P/ASX200 rise to a two-year high of 5956.5, the market hit reverse, suffering four sessions of losses. The index closed at 5836.6 on Friday, down 0.7 per cent for the day and 1.5 per cent for the week.
