6 Apr 2017 (AFR) – Clothing retail store networks go from ‘asset to liability’

‘Clothing retailers are paying a high price for opening new stores in a misguided attempt to secure market share in the face of disruption from online retailing and the arrival of global fast-fashion chains. Apparel retailers are selling brands, appointing administrators and closing stores at an almost unprecedented rate amid a downturn in clothing sales.’

‘As the administrators of Marcs, David Lawrence, Herringbone and Rhodes & Beckett negotiate with potential buyers, one of Australia’s largest privately owned clothing retailers, Naomi Milgrom’s Sussan Group, has reportedly been put up for sale.’
