7 Feb 2017 (AFR) – Retail sales volumes jump in December quarter

‘Retail sales turnover accelerated sharply in the fourth quarter of 2016, adding to signs the economy rebounded from a weak September quarter and supporting the Reserve Bank of Australia’s view that growth will recover in 2017. While sales fell by 0.1 per cent in December, volumes for the final three months of the year increased 0.9 per cent after stalling during the previous three months, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.’
