3 Feb 2017 (AFR) – Falling further: December building approvals slip to two-yearly low

‘New housing approvals slipped to their weakest monthly total in more than two years in December, in a further sign of a sector tightening the taps on new developments. New dwellings given the nod by planning authorities slipped 1.2 per cent – in line with expectations – to a seasonally adjusted 17,327 in the last calendar month of the year, the lowest since the 16,158 approvals made in September 2014, Australian Bureau of Statistics figures showed on Thursday.’
