24 Jan 2017 (AFR) – Affordability blow: Sydney house prices top $1.1m, rents rise, Domain says

‘Sydney’s median house price jumped to a record $1.1 million in the December quarter, boosting the affordability challenge for the new NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, who singled out the issue on Monday. The fastest quarterly increase in a year and a half pushed the national median house price up 3.4 per cent over the three-month period to $780,887, and unit prices up 2.4 per cent to a record $551,110, the latest Domain Group figures show.’
