12 Jan 2017 (AFR) – Global mineral exploration spend hit decade low in 2016: report

‘Mining companies’ global exploration budgets slumped to a decade-low of $US6.9 billion ($9.3 billion) in 2016, according to a new report, raising concerns about the pipeline of future projects for the industry. According to the Corporate Exploration Strategies 2016 report from S&P Global Market Intelligence, the mining companies’ exploration budgets declined in every region of the globe in 2016 for the third consecutive year, with an average 21 per cent year-on-year decline.’
