9 Jan 2017 (AFR) – Mining, energy exports headed for $200b record high

‘The value of Australia’s mining and energy exports is forecast to be higher in fiscal 2017 than ever before, boosting company profits, government revenues and potentially helping Australia to avoid a technical recession. Despite prices for most commodities being lower than they were during the peak of the resources boom in 2011, the higher rates of production, the weaker Australian currency and the recent rally in iron ore and coal prices are tipped to ensure the value of mining and energy exports tops $203.9 billion in the year to June 30.’
