22 Nov 2016 (AFR) – President-elect could change mind over TPP support, says Turnbull – APEC warns against protectionism, pushes free trade

‘Asia-Pacific leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to free trade while Malcolm Turnbull says there is still some hope US President-elect Donald Trump may change his mind and agree to support the Trans-pacific Partnership. As the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Lima, Peru wound up Monday morning, the leaders including US President Barack Obama, issued a strong statement against protectionism and agreed to keep working on a broader free trade pact, known as the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific which would involve all 21 APEC nations. The TPP is a 12-nation regional pact that does not involve China.
