16 Nov 2016 (AFR) – Bond market no longer gives investors a reason to buy shares

‘Since the recovery in sharemarkets began in early 2009, there’s been a familiar pattern that’s been repeated over and over again – until now. Whenever there was a major sell-off in stocks – think Greece and Europe, a slowdown in China, concerns over the US and even Brexit – they always bounced back and continued on their merry way. But it was rarely due to earnings or good news on the economy. Rather, something outside the sharemarket that gave investors a reason to buy.’
