‘The election of a demagogue to become the 45th president of the United States has set the world’s nerves a jangle. Justin Wolfers, the former Sydneysider who’s now a respected and sought-after economist in the US, describes it as living in a “truly bizarre parallel universe”. “Nobody thought we could possibly ever be here, having the most unqualified nominee in probably American history. It creates great drama but it’s also deeply worrying,” says Wolfers, who’s a professor of economics and public policy at the University of Michigan.’
