19 Oct 2016 (TheAge) – Vacant shops don’t stop buyers – Investors not put off by rising vacancy on suburban shopping strips

‘Melbourne’s once-coveted retail strips are struggling to reinvent themselves and fill empty shops, with almost one in six vacant on key strips such as Chapel Street and Bridge Road. The worrying vacancy figures haven’t stopped investors ploughing money into suburban retail assets where agents regularly report yields that once were hovering around 6 per cent, sharpening to between 3 and 4 per cent.’
