15 Sept 2016 (TheAge) – Melbourne’s house vacancy rate at its tightest in two years

‘Melbourne tenants hunting for a house face the tightest rental market in more than two years, new data shows.  The proportion of houses vacant in Melbourne was just 1.5 per cent in August, down from 1.7 per cent a year ago – and the lowest figure since April 2014, Domain Group data shows.  There was  no easing for Melbourne tenants in terms of choice for houses and rent relief, Domain Group chief economist Andrew Wilson said. ‘
