3 Sept 2016 (AFR) – ASX profit prospects on the rise but will markets care?

‘After a pretty dour August on the ASX, my general feeling is that it could have been a lot worse. In fact, a 2.3 per cent decline in the benchmark top 200 share index over the month looks pretty respectable when you consider the awkward matching of low growth and high valuations that dominates markets around the world, including our own. The earnings numbers to emerge from the 2016 financial year weren’t great.’
