16 Dec 2015 (AFR) – ‘Tis the season for shorts and earlies – BHP Billiton share price may have bottomed out

‘The calender will show there are another 16 days left in this month of December, but for most traders there’s really only three sessions remaining in 2015. What will they do, and what positions will they start to square up? Starting next Monday there will be just two short weeks left in 2015, both punctuated by public holidays and early closes for the ASX, meaning liquidity will dry up and it will be harder, or more expensive, to get anything done. ‘

‘Financial markets will begin to wind down for Christmas and then the obligatory end of year celebrations. During these times when desks are undermanned and volumes are low, prices can be pushed around and window dressing will also come to the fore.  Remember, December 31 marks end of the month, end of quarter and end of the calender year. ‘
