28 Feb 2015 (AFR) – Profit season hits low note but road to 6000 intact

‘The final big week of company profits ended on a sour note with a profit downgrade from Woolworths and mounting expectations of an interest rate cut from the Reserve Bank of Australia coming on Tuesday. The state of the domestic economy has proved to be one of the biggest hurdles to earnings growth, close behind uninspiring commentary on the outlook for commodity prices. Dividends were reliably generous but boards did not lift pay-out ratios which entered the profit season at already high levels.’
